*Overview*
Nikbakht Law is looking for a skilled and proactive paralegal to represent clients in Traffic Court and Small Claims Court. In this role, you will take the lead in managing cases from start to finish, including appearing in court on behalf of clients. You will be supported by our experienced legal team, who will provide guidance and resources as needed. This position requires strong legal acumen, excellent advocacy skills, and the ability to independently handle a diverse caseload.
*Responsibilities*
* Represent clients in Traffic Court and Small Claims Court, including preparing and presenting cases.
* Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for case preparation.
* Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
* Manage client communications, providing updates and addressing inquiries throughout the case process.
* Maintain organized case files and ensure timely filing of all court documents.
* Collaborate with the legal team to develop case strategies and solutions.
* Review and analyze evidence, witness statements, and legal precedents.
* Assist with settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
* Attend court hearings, pre-trials, and mediations as required.
* Take part in continuing education.
*Requirements*
* *Education*: Completion of a paralegal diploma or certificate from an accredited institution or other legal education.
* *Experience*: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal setting, with a preference for experience in Traffic Court and Small Claims Court.
* *Knowledge*: Strong understanding of traffic law, small claims procedures, and relevant provincial regulations.
* *Legal Skills*: Proficiency in legal research, drafting legal documents, and case management.
* *Advocacy*: Demonstrated ability to effectively represent clients in court including trial and negotiate settlements.
* *Communication*: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues to clients.
* *Organization*: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
* *Technology*: Proficiency in legal software, case management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
* *Professionalism*: High level of integrity, ethical judgment, and commitment to client confidentiality.
