MECHANICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN <p>ONE POSITION FOR THE SOOKE SCHOOL DISTRICT.<p>FORTY HOURS PER WEEK. <p>PLEASE SEE JOB DESCRIPTION BELOW.<p>THIS IS A NEW POSITION AND WILL RECEIVE A FINAL PAY RATING 6 MONTHS AFTER THE NEW INCUMBENT STARTS AS PER THE JOB EVALUATION PLAN.<p>AN INTERIM HOURLY RATE WILL BE APPLIED, $34.17 - $35.40 (depends on applicant and tickets they hold).DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.<p>KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Secondary School graduation <p> Holder of a valid BC trade certification in HVAC, Controls or Plumbing with a minimum 5 years' experience working in the trades <p> Strong understanding of both maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems related to heating/cooling, plumbing and septic <p> Knowledge of current applicable BC codes, safety standards and regulations related to plumbing and HVAC <p> Demonstrable knowledge of Direct Digital Control (DDC) software as it relates to monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of systems <p> Holds and maintains a BC Backflow Assembly Tester Certification <p> Ability to understand and navigate equipment manuals, blueprints and digital as-builts <p> Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office (outlook, word processor and excel) as well as familiarity with host and internet-based work order systems and reporting applications <p> Valid BC driver's license SKILLS AND ABILITIES <p> Actively shows courtesy and respect to all, proactively builds healthy and trusting relationships with all; contributes to a positive working environment <p> Clearly articulates thoughts and ideas and shares timely and relevant information openly, honestly and respectfully <p> Possesses strong organizational skills and proactively plans, prioritizes and organizes work <p> Takes initiative and works efficiently without direct supervision <p> Good health and sufficient strength to perform a variety of manual tasks related to trade <p> Respects the confidential nature of all information relating to student, parents and staff Reports to: <p>Manager of Facilities <p>RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the regular maintenance, installations and repair of mechanical systems related to plumbing, septic, ventilation and heating and cooling systems <p> Performs regular inspections and preventative maintenance checks on various mechanical systems and provides service recommendations and instructs mechanical team to ensure optimal performance of equipment <p> Monitors Direct Digital Controls systems and troubleshoots and resolves issues as assigned. Recommends repairs and services performed by external service providers as needed <p> Responsible for contributing to asset management date input for all new replacement projects and new builds <p> Assumes responsibility and supports energy cost reductions initiatives <p> Performs backflow assembly testing on all district devices and completes necessary reports <p> Ensures mechanical systems are operating safely and communicates any concerns with Supervisors <p> Estimates repair costs and provides department supervisors and school administrators with recommendations on equipment replacement and new purchases <p> Orders and keeps accurate inventory of parts and materials related to mechanical department <p> Ability to work off ladders and at height for general mechanical services as required <p> Logs and tracks service time and repairs on all district equipment for performance and reporting purposes <p> Ensures assigned work orders are completed within the work order system regularly and any relevant information regarding work orders is communicated with direct supervisor <p> Reports any violations of district or provincial policies and regul
